July 13, 2008: Les Crane, 84, US broadcaster who made the transition from radio to television in the 1960s, with a late-night talk show on the ABC network. He was the first American TV host to interview the Rolling Stones, and he won a Grammy for his 1971 spoken-word recording of the poem Desiderata.
