June 28, 2008: Irina Baronova, 89, Russian-born ballet star who first rose to fame as one of the "baby ballerinas" discovered by George Balanchine. She starred in the 1931 Paris production of the Offenbach operetta Orpheus in the Underworld at just 12, and later toured with the Ballets Russes de Monte Carlo and the (American) Dance Theater before retiring at 27. The mother of actress Victoria Tennant, she died at her home in Byron Bay, Australia.
